Birmingham City Councilor Clinton P. Woods is Chair of the Workforce Development Committee, and a member of the Administration & Governmental Affairs, Economic Development & Tourism, and Transportation & Infrastructure Committees.

Biography
Councilor Woods passionately believes that there are creative opportunities to attract and sustain businesses in District 1. He is a strong advocate for rebuilding communities by implementing effective and sustainable economic and educational opportunities. He believes that strengthening the schools will play a significant role in reversing the negative trend of residents leaving the city. “We must fight to create safe communities, where our children can get a quality education, and our families have access to quality businesses.” Woods possesses a unique skill set and believes he can play an integral role in achieving this vision.
Woods serves on the advisory board for Mission Increase Central AL, which is a non-profit organization that provides free fundraising and organizational training to non-profit organizations throughout central Alabama. Mission Increase has been impactful in building the non-profit community throughout the country and Councilor Woods is excited about what Mission Increase can accomplish in Birmingham.
Councilor Woods graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Economics from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, before earning a Masters of Engineering Construction Management from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is also a State Licensed Commercial General Contractor, Project Management Professional (PMP), and owner of Prescott Contracting. He has been married to his wife, Dawn for 8 years, and they have a baby girl named Chloe and baby boy named Clinton Jr.

Practical aspects like copyright, self-publishing, working with book agents, and getting published will also be covered. Additionally, the illustration process will be explored to help bring your story to life! Artist Bio: After a successful 17-year career at a prestigious law firm in New York, Jenny-Rebecca Lewis embarked on a transformative journey of self-discovery and spiritual exploration. Returning to her roots in Alabama, she delves into the beauty of her soul and lineage, uncovering her true life’s purpose. With only 4 students per class, each child receives personalized attention from our experienced instructor. Students will learn the layout of the keyboard, basic music theory, and how to play simple songs. They will also be introduced to reading sheet music and developing proper techniques all while participating in interactive activities and performance opportunities. This class is perfect for young beginners eager to explore the world of music in a friendly and supportive setting. Artist Bio: Ahmun Miles, a classically trained pianist from Birmingham/Bessemer, Alabama, brings over 18 years of musical expertise to her students as the owner and head instructor of Piamistry. An accomplished musician, Miles is a member of the Birmingham Music Teachers Association and the National Federated Music Club, earning superior and excellent ratings in music theory and performance. With a background in Music Theory and Performance from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, she has been recognized as a Steinway and Sons Educational Partner and was named Samford University Lecturer of the Year in 2023.

[more+]In this fun and interactive class by Kat Murray & Hannah Lewis, young artists will dive into the world of printmaking through hands-on projects. We’ll kick off with a playful activity—shading a page and using an eraser to create imaginative designs, sparking creativity. Students will then explore scratchboard techniques to introduce the foundations of printmaking. From there, they’ll sketch their favorite flowers and bugs, transfer those designs onto printing blocks, and learn how to carve and print their creations. By the end of the class, each student will have a beautiful collection of nature-inspired prints to take home. Artists Bio: Kat Murray and Hannah Lewis bring a wealth of experience and diverse skills to their co-teaching partnership. Kat holds an MFA in Printmaking from the University of Alabama and a BS in Fine Arts from the University of Montevallo. She is a Teaching Artist with the Walker County Arts Alliance and the Workshop Coordinator at PaperWorkers Local. Kat specializes in printmaking, mixed media, drawing, and ceramics. Hannah Lewis has been a Traveling Art Teacher with the Walker County Arts Alliance since January 2024, where they teach art fundamentals to students across various grade levels. As a freelance artist, she works in pottery, printmaking, fiber arts, and watercolors, guiding students in a wide range of artistic processes, from clay work to 2D and fiber arts. Together, they combine their expertise to offer a dynamic, hands-on learning experience in the arts.
