Budget and Finance Committee

The Budget and Finance Committee Advises on Matters Regarding: Departmental expenditures (except professional services), Budget amendments, City financial assets, revenue, liabilities, and any matter that impacts such, Grants and contributions, Transfer of surplus equipment, Business licensing, CDBG (as it relates to annual budget allocations)

Committee Information

TASKS:

  • Assure that the Council is aware of and can participate in annual administrative City Budget Committee hearings to discuss proposed departmental budgets with administrative personnel
  • Assure that the Council is in receipt of the Mayor’s proposed annual City budget on or before May 20th of each year
  • Coordinate and lead public hearing(s) to obtain public comment on the Mayor’s proposed budget
  • Coordinate and lead Council engagement with the Mayor to discuss the proposed City budget
  • Engage with Council staff relative to tracking City expenditures
  • Confers with consultants (e.g., Levitate Legal) to the City regarding external funding opportunities
